There are a few obvious things that won’t appear in this “I’m Tired” edition. Since it is not the “I’m le tired” edition, the end of the world gif won’t appear here. Still one of my all time internet favs. “Hhhokay…”

Another bit of media not included here would be Fugazi’s “I’m so tired” because I don’t want to listen to Ian MacKaye whine more than needed. Admittedly, I’m a fan of this lyric from that song though (“I’m so tired sheep are counting me”). I used to enjoy the Wugazi mashup with “C.R.E.A.M.” called “Sleep rules everything around me”, but that certainly won’t be here. #BoycottRhymesayersANDdoomtree

Anyway, back to todays regularly scheduled programming.

Short Round “Language”

This group only put out 1 album, back in 2002 on Asian Man Records. As is frequently a topic around here, the In Defense of Ska podcast had Jason Thihn on an episode to talk about his time with The Ch*nkees, Mike Park, and his band Short Round. Jason is now a teacher in Japan, a good follow on twitter, and one of the most cogent and self-aware guests on the show.

I pulled up their album after listening to the episode and found some great punk songs from the early 2000s. The first track I heard, “Cleansing, Cut, Scrape” sounds like the inspiration for Panic at the Disco. Got the same lyric styles but rocking harder. I almost went with this one, but the lyrics on “Language” won me over.

I’m tired,
you’re wastin your words,
Constant noise,
oh wait a minute that was just your voice

Short Round

Teenage Bottlerocket “Never Sing Along”

TBR has long been a favorite on the blog, and it is entirely because of Philip Chavez. He would post about them and The Lillingtons pretty frequently. I had the privilege of seeing Teenage Bottlerocket at the last concert I attended with my late friend. I have the poster framed on my wall to remind me now and then too.

This track is from their latest release, Sick Sesh! and has a pretty rad video too. There’s lots of the rocking out and pogo dancing you’ve come to expect from this Wyoming band.

Samiam “She Found You”

This one’s from the late 90s. The Berkeley emo/punk group got some radio play in 97-98 with this song. They’d previously released a record in 1994 on a major label which landed them a performance on The Jon Stewart show. Like today’s first track, I find myself singing these lyrics over and over in my head after listening to the song.

I wasn’t too familiar with this band, but their label for this record was a late 90s favorite of mine, Burning Heart Records. You may recall the BHR artist Millencolin from the THPS revisited edition playing a stellar version of “No Cigar”

Just when I thought you were breaking down,
She found you
