A word before we get started.
What the phrase meant to me was a simple escape from the mundane. A 3 track musical journey through past memories, feelings, and motivations. Themes tended to come and go, but the raw feeling in your gut was the persistent driving force.
I can’t seem to bring myself to go back and look at the actual posts anymore. Dozens of examples course through my head, but I I find myself clicking the little X on the browser tab when I go to look any of them up.
So, this post, or series of posts or whatever it turns out to be, won’t be a review or retrospective of the greatness that was Friday and whatnot, rather a look forward with a similar lens. Perhaps it will finally be an outlet for those bittersweet moments — discovering a new punk/hiphop/rock song, laughing about a Teenage Bottlerocket post on The Hard Times — where I start to tag him in a post. I can’t say I’m a very spiritual dude, but I do hope these vibes reach Philip wherever he may be. RIP Big Homie.
Enough of the buildup, Friday and whatnot.
A certain vibe to their collaboration
The theme to this weeks post is simple: Evidence and Steven Vanasco make the type of art I enjoy. Their collaborations have happened across several media, but the feeling remains the same. Mr Slow Flow-er shot in his natural surroundings, as rich in cinematography as rap hands & jazz cigarettes. The first two have been in heavy rotation this month, the last one made #34 on Barack Obama’s Summer 2019 playlist.

Surprise, another Evidence song with a video directed by Steven Vanasco. Apparently a certain President (44) is a fan as well (song #34).
