It’s been a bit of a music desert around here lately. No reason to judge myself, but I kinda forgot how good it felt to invest time and energy in something pure. Just my own music listening, and echoing my own thoughts. Any ideas of how I should write something, already miss the point. As has been the case, intro as context for the therapy these songs offer.
Open Mike Eagle “I’ll Fight You”
This one has been running through my head since I first heard it. Those little morsels for your brain to chew on (like a Rottweiler), are what keeps me coming back.
The video is great too. OME rocking the old school boom boxes as helmets. They slowly get retired into the coffin of outdated technology.
Tryna get my hearts restored,

New Friend “Cement”
Are you kidding me with this? Catchy folky punk with a cute cat wearing a lovely pillow. As Shadey, our red tabby, can attest, this video leverages some elite cat pets. The double stroke on her checks below the ears, classic.
In the video he drags the vocals like dilla beats. video description completely real, like the merch. Allergies and cats man.
Random discovery from r/folkpunk, so I glad I clicked on that first one (called ). It’s been cool to see some random dude I don’t know put out great music and have 100ish views only. Keep it up New Friend, you rock!
David Dondero “Underwater Sculpture Garden”
The idea of sculpture came up in a convo with our daughter. When asked how I felt, I directed them to this song. Fun ska connection: Dan Pothast produced this song.

you can see the statues of confederate losers to remind you how they lost the war
visitors can look down on the statues
far in the depths below
the statues could serve as a structure
to help the coral reef to grow
